Today's Time Capsule, Orang-Utan...

So, long before Chocloate Rain, there was Chocolate Piano by a band you've prolly never heard of... Orang-Utan. (man of the forest)
A band that put this album out in 1971.
It even sounds as though the Spinal Tap guys pretty much stole everything from these guys.

These dewdz were a hard rock group from London, England. This was their only album, and it was originally released exclusively in the United States. It was stolen by their producer who released it without the band even knowing.

Before going by the name Orang-Utan, the band went by the name of Hunter, but never recorded anything using that name. They play blend of sludgy riffs based heavily on blues music, which they can get away with doing due to the musicians being masters at waht they do, playing diversely crafted heavy guitar oriented rock. They could be considered a major influence on the Stoner Rock genre as we know it todei.

If you're into bands like The Creams, The Mountains, Black Sadbath, Deep Purple, Jimmy Henderson, even the mighty [Led Fucking] Zeppelin, you'd prolly get down with this band/album. Every aspect of this band screams great musician, the big emphasis being the twin lead guitars, talking to each other throughout the album. These guys were only 19-20 at the time, so you that should tell you just how incredibly talented they were by how brilliant the song writing is on this album.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Helpless Dancer" by The Who from the album "Quadrophenia (Disc1)" released in 1973.
