Again With The Snow...

So, it snowed last noight. Yeah, overnoight it loik snowed sooo hella, shit was done gone and melted by 4pm though. One of the great things about living in Chicago. Speaking of the Chi, (Pronounced Shy, not Chee or Chai which is pronounced Ch-Eye not Kai) we have a new Nike (Pronounced Ny-Key, not N'ike) as pictured above.

It is a shoe created by Steve "dread" Snyder who was in the band UNGH! who were featued on a Thrasher Skaterock compilation, I do believe. Also, those guys from UNGH! were all art student friends and disbanded and re-arranged the letters to form "H-Gun" as in H-Gun studios who went on to do videos for NIN, Megadeth, La Tour, Public Enemy and many more. Had UNGH! been signed to Geffen Records, H-Gun prolly wouldn't ever have existed. Now, try thinking about that during your altering history conversation at the coffee house.

Oh Yeah, did you also know that after UNGH! that Zimmerman was in the group Crunch-Ø-Matic? If any of my info about UNGH! or H-Gun is wrong, please write corrections in the comments. Steve Dread also rode for ALVA skateboards, as pictured above, this is the photo with Jesse Neuhaus, they said "it looked like some bikers kidnapped some kid" because Jesse looked to "clean cut" Jesse still rips to this day. He was pro for ALVA.

Wait, where was I? Oh yeah going on about the Shoe. I didn't get a pair yet, but my friend Ben (redgrave) was wearing a pair of them during filming. He got them for free due to the "Bro/Bro-Down" factor. what I mean is that Ben is a Bro & Uprise is the Bro-Down. The shoe is an Uprise/Dread/Chicago representation. (Uprise is an old skateshop & new shoe boutique, just hit their 10 year mark, before that it was called Blue Town, which was owned by Jesse, B in the D, B4 he sold it to some out of staters & a girl who didn't skate to rep the Chi). No H8'n just callin'. Tryin' to rep that the Chi is all baby blue like the Ambrose or something, but I think that Ambrose are baby blue & black, so maybe it's the flag colors or something? WHTVS, it's a wonder of humansity or some whack ass shit for some sucka MC's.

I used to work with a guy in 1994 who was all hardcore Ambrose. It's funny how dudes are just regular Bros when you work with them at jobs. Like this other dude I worked with in 1996 would run around yelling TPK (Tu Pac Killaz) all the time during work, one of the funniest guys I've met Mike Czubatuik or something polish sounding. I will always remember that guy. Yada Yada Yada, Dread + Jesse + the Shoe above = long winded post (since i'm not talking is it still considered long winded?) Maybe it should be long lettered? Sure beats posting 30+ videos on Fabecook, eh?

Man, I posted just vids going through my musical genre exploration, discovery & curiosity of my self-Identification during my teeny bopper years which rolled into my early 20's. Do any of the seven of you really like reading these things? Maybe they just give you a good laugh to break up your mundane day of sitting in a Cubicle Typing or serving Donuts to Mexicans. Sorry for no Hot-Links in this post, it's late 3:07am to be precise, I fell asleep at 8pm Sunday and woke up at 12:30am. Great, eh? So, now I will end this thing.

By the time of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Snorry Mouth" by Mercury Rev from the album "Boces" 1993. After my vid post for "Bronx Cheer" on Fabecook & Jeff Hedges vid post for "Frittering", I got the bug for some good headphone dreaming while typing, as you can see words just fall while in this mode.
Much like listening to the groups Secret Side & Intriga while making my Board for my f(r)iend Lou's art show @ EXP in 2007. Ganoight, gunna look for some Zzzzz's to chase. Well, after fucking around editing typos & adding words, I am now at "Bronx Cheer" going backward in iTunes from date added.

Lurking about...

So, like I've been hanging out in what what they call an "Indie" film set, by doing this I have not rode my board since Saturday, well, I rode Sunday, but I wouldn't consider riding around with legs too stiff to ollie 6 inches skateboarding. I met this dude Perry who became a paramedic in this film, my friend Marfa, is waiting to be used today. So far I have been in four scenes, I guess I am now a "regular" at the bar/club in the movie. The pay is $0.00, it's 8 miles from my house, they feed you food, but I don't mooch or grab piles of it like the Hippo/Hoppers that Lurk around being all loud during "rolling" when they yell for "quiet on the set". One guy had a nextel go off and they got sooooooo pissed at him. You see, they ask you to turn your phones off or put them on vibrate. I'm at home still, it's 11:40am, I felt like going in late today instead of being there at 10am. L8R, I will maybe see one of you seven this WKND. I need wear my Blue Rector Riot gloves more. By the ending of this post I am currently listening to "Just Being With You" by the Hard-Ons from the album "Hard-Ons Rarities" the song dates from 1989.

Polish ✠ Jew ✡ ℆ L8r

So, My friend & skate buddy Ben Redgrave is in Town from L.A. shooting a film with his old friend Ben Berkowitz called Polish Bar this month.
I got the call last night around 9pm to see if I would be available & interested in being an extra in the film. Of course, me being unemployed, I said yes. Well, that and wanting to help a friend out. Today, Monday, I showed up and there were 3 other guys that I skate with that also showed up.

TR, Fit Mike & Calabro. We all had a pretty good shot of camera time I think.
In my part I leave after the first stripper is done dancing and walk toward the camera out of scene on what will be the right side of the screen. I then think I might re-appear seated in the background at a table. Oh Yeah, Meatloaf is the club owner in this film so he was seated behind me during the shoot, and passes me after he puts money in the stripper's G-String.
So, If I don't make another post until next week, that is the reason. I haven't lost interest in blogging or the seven of you that read this. Looks like 64* and rain on Tuesday & in the 50's Wed/Thur, 62* & cloudy on Friday. prolly gunna miss skating due to being an extra all week. I might see one of you seven this WKND at wilson SKTPRK.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Wooper" by Master Margherita from the compilation "Simmetry & Kaos" 2008.

Rep the Chai...

Spencer Slappie Trick Tip - SuchLuck.com from Such Luck on Vimeo.
So, like in October or something, I'm guessing because I'm wearing & riding the same set-up as in that video. Here we skate a place that I came across while we were DWNTWN by the rotting meat & dead fish smell district. Red 4 daze, yo! Soooooo perf! You also get to see pretty trains go by, like the Superliner by Amtrak and Metra trains, some that go to Elgin. Perty kewl eh? No? Yeah didn't think so. My blog is a joke & I don't take skateboarding SRSLY. This is how I "rep da Chi", that's pronounced (Shy) not (Chee) or (Chai) although I have been known to rep some Chai B4, it's like sooo yummerz. Even more yummerz than a MexicAlt Fixie Bear.

Try this:

Boil 5 minutes, then steep 10 minutes:

1 Tbsp fennel or anise seed
6 green cardamom pods
12 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/4" ginger root, sliced thin
1/4 tsp black pepper corns
2 bay leaves
7 Cups water
Add, bring to a boil, and simmer 5 minutes:

2 Tbsp Darjeeling tea
Add:

6 Tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 Cup milk
Yummerz, roit?

Better With BBQ Sauce...

So, since it was nice out and I was at the skatepark in Chicago, known in circles simply as Wilson, all WKND. If you ever visit you will love it or hate it, if you hate it you can simply walk 3 minutes over to the lake and take in her majesty, dip your toes, go wading or dive in and refresh.
Now when I say lake, I mean HUGE WATER COVERING AREA, when out of towners get here they think small lake like in a campground. When I take them to it, they're like HS!-WTF?
Bring your GF or BF along with your Puppy dog because the dog beach is right there too.

On the way home I usually stop by Holiday Club to get a drink and some food to fulfill my starving skater appetite, this is unlike the starving artist appetite because I was actually outside doing exercise of some sort, burning calories that I did not take in in the first place, which is prolly kinda bad for you.
At Any rate, I was hungry for some good food. Skated Sunday and stopped by, a lot of my friends work there & I used to work there in 2003 just as a lonely door boy. One of the girls that I worked with was working there this night. I was going to order a pizza, but she said she has one coming up so I could just share it with her, she ordered a Bacon, Spinach, Pineapple Pizza w/BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce.
OMG it was SFG! I call my friends Chad & he calls Tony to stop by. So while waiting for Tony, Chad buys that round of drinks. When Tony shows up we mover to a comfortable table for 3. We then proceed to drink more, Chad has to leave, Tony & I stay.
My Friend Kelly shows up to work the back room, Tony buys the two pitchers we downed. We head to the back bar where Kelly buys our first drinks, we talk, have a blast until Kevin rolls up to DJ, Kevin's Dad used to be the Drummer for Twisted Sister.
They do Bingo every Sunday night at Holiday, playing good Rockabilly & good Punk. yada yada yada Tony picks up the end tab again, I'm all "you sure" and he's all "don't worry about it". Got there at 7pm stayed until close. We Got Faded.

Monday comes too soon and I have to go skate again Because Steve from Yay! A Place for Boards in coming to town with 6 pack Chris. Yay! is closed on Mondays. You can find the link to Yay! under the tab for "YEAH BOARDSHOP" in the sidebar.
Dry Bones Nation & Jesse Neuhaus show up also and together we all shred, I love skating with those dudes, Steve, Jesse & I have skated with each other since the old days of the Chicago Street Skater Mob of like 30-40 kids destroying all of DWNTWN like skate locusts.
After the Sesh I head to Holiday Club again because my good friend Dave is working, always a güd tÿm when he's there, this time he and the door guy Rory already had a pizza made and offered the rest to me, the one they made was Chicken & Mozzarella w/Buffalo sauce instead of pizza sauce, with cups of Ranch & Bleu Cheese for your dipping pleasure. Sat there for six hours. Got Faded Again.

Tuesday rolls up, 70* and sunny some wind but not enough to deter a Chicago skater that's been itching for 'crete all winter. prolly got too much Sun because of the cool breeze not letting you know you're frying. Again I go to Holiday Club at 6pm, because my friend Danielle Bartends Tuesdays, I walk in there and get a seat next to the Goose Island Rep, Holiday is now gunna sell Matilda. We start talking, he buys me two Matilda's, they are SFG & potent. Find and try it.
This time for my Pizza choice I go with the Bacon, Spinach, Tomato w/Chicken (or know to inside circles as BST w/C) & BBQ sauce as my base. COMBO!!! St. Fatty's day wasn't that bad no drunk assholes or pancake boobs flapping in your face. I guess all those people went out and got retarded on the WKND 4 the SSIP (south-side irish parade) so maybe when it falls on a WKDY it's not that bad.
I usually avoid it altogether just 2b safe, or maybe the fact that the bar is not called O'Holiday's Clubbe.
Anyway I had fun and stayed, this time, just before close, but still was there for over 6 hours, prolly 7.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Tragedy (For You)" by Front 242 from the album "Tyranny (For You)" 1991.

I'm Back In Business, Baby!

Untitled from wilsonskate on Vimeo.
So, I just like fucking around with my board to what, I think, is nothing more than me getting a laugh from myself. To my surprise most of the time people & like 12 other skaters like what they see. This time, 1 of those 12 was Morley from theWilson Warriors crew. (I think that's how you spell his name) I'm going by the name of the Wah Wah pedal company. Enjoy what you see, this is the type of stuff to expect when you go skate with me. True skateboarding street style is an ability to see something skateable that most others walk right by. As of the ending of this post I am currently listening to "If I Can't Change Your Mind" by Bob Mould from the album "The Silence Between Us 7 inch" released on Beggars Banquet 2008

Make It Sound Like Hitler's Bunker...

So, I don't know if the 7 of you knew this or not, but I used to write music on my synthesizers. I once was in the group Cruciform Injection and played Guitars & Keyboards for them from 1998-2003.
From going to clubs and handing out demos we met a guy named Wintre Laake. He liked our sound and liked what I could come up with on the Synthesizer.

Wintre opened up for us at one of our Halloween shows doing spoken word while I did live improvisational Synth accompany behind him, on my JD-800. Real spooky ethereal stuff on that synth.
The opening lines were this satanic chant all in Latin, which contained something like "In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanas Luciferi Excelsi" It was a charge, man.

The JD-800 can almost hit the brown note, I swear, and in a split second drop of a slider, make it scream like a banshee. Anyway, Wintre liked the sound of my live Improv and asked me to work with him on a project. We worked on some songs, one of which he made into a video. This being the video above.
I also wrote another song for us and it turned out he had written some words that fit the tune perfectly in timing, the song was called "Lora Cum Loude."
One he liked it so much that he sent it around to some people to hear it, and said that one person had gotten back to him about the song and saying "it would be perfect for the upcoming Tomb Raider Soundtrack."

I dragged my feet on finishing the song and ultimately never made it by the deadline.
I was working this print shop job that had me up at 5am and home by 6pm, so artistic creativity & sitting in my Studio for hours was the last thing on my mind at the end of the day.
I still have all the original Mini-Discs of the material and prolly have all the 3.5" disks for the workstation synth with the raw files on them. Plus, I recently came across some old MP3's on my old computer from 1999, that's about the time that the song above dates from, or should I say, "this song is circa 1999?"

By the time of the ending of this post I am currently listening to "Over The Edge" by Underdog from the album "Vanishing Point" 1989 side note: (chuck treece played on this album)

Missing Letter.... Missing Time.

So, I have noticed that in my Poll that I left out the letter "R" in the word your. Could it be that at that moment, that I was supposed to have put the "R" in, that I was abducted by some sort of otherwordly beings and taken along or away for an indefinite amount of time and brought back in a mili-second that it would have taken me type that "R"?

Spencer - ridiculous down birthday cake trick tip - SuchLuck.com from Such Luck on Vimeo.
So, Like a month ago or something we were at "the Carwash" and decided on a whim to do the next in the series of Trick Tips for Such Luck since it's been some time between the last one. Here I do some Cheapo Tail-Block Leg Kick to SAG Arthur Zone's butt. It gets cold in The Chi, rep the chi rep rep the chi, and when it gets cold sometimes you get bored and kinda on the Neural Glitch. Things like this are sure to come about. Half-Cab heels are a must to learn any trick, all the components for every other trick are there in that One Trick. It's truly one of the wonders of the skate world. I think it was prolly about 13* or less on this day, in a concrete & brick facility with no heat. Well, one space heater in the corner to sit next to once in a while. (is it A While or Awhile? I always forget in what context in which to use the right one). Anyway, enjoi the new post and don't forget to Czech out the other videos @ Such Luck. By the time of the Ending of this post I am Currently listening to "Private Room" by Steel Fury from the album "Lesser Of Two Evils" 1989.

Decked out on Skateboarding

So, when I heard from my friend Steve that he was opening a skate shop & starting a website to promote it and the Illinois skate scene, I jumped at the opportunity to get a custom board made in the shape of Illinois, an idea that I came up with in 2006.
When my friend Danny at Factory 13 came through Chicago with some other friends, the Godoys, in their band Last of the Bad Men, I told him about my challenge. He immediately got stoked on it and said that was "a fucking great idea". If you ever make it out to Yeah! Boardshop in Bartlett, IL, as promoted on the Skate Illinois website, you will see it up on the wall. The picture posted here is of the deck I had Danny make. He sent this picture to me after production.

At the time of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Laughing" by the Goo Goo Dolls from their 1990 album "Hold Me Up".

Too Much Sleep (is a bad thing)

So, Today again I oversleep, I set the alarm for 9am to go meet up with my friend Chad & some other Human Hangovers at Hot Doug's at 10:30. I get up as per usual, but then I make the age old mistake of "just laying back down for a second to stretch & wake up" BZZZZZZZZZZT!!! Wrong, next thing I know I'm waking up to Chad's text at 10:45am saying that they are in line at Hot Doug's, so now I'm totally blowin' it. Now instead of having a venison Hot Dog for breakfast, I'm having a bowl of Scooters and Soy milk. Yum!. Oh well, I guess since it's raining and 45* today I'll go skate the Crawash, 47th, Soma's Ramp, Spencer's Barney Playground or whatever you want to call it. At the time of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Purple Skin" by the band OOMPH! from the album of the same name - "OOMPH!" 1992 (some pretty good Industrial.)

Spring Is Here...

So, Spring is here, or at least in the air. Today it's 63* at 1:08pm, but when I think of Spring Skateboarding This isn't what I have in mind or had pictured. This kind of thing is for the No Cluers & guys with khaki cargos & mandals.

Punk's Not Dead...

So, I had this MP3 of an old punk mixtape. It was just one of the many things I lost, losing it in the Great 500GB crash of 2008.
I went on a mission to find the man responsible for it, I sent out emails for weeks to various suspects of a punk/skate youth upbringing around the time of 1986.
It all payed off, I finally got a hit today letting me know that it was in fact Him. He sent me the link for it & I am now so happy today, what a great thing to wake up to, well, maybe waking up to a girl in your bed is better, but hey, I'll take this.
I thought I would share with my friends. Yes, I consider you 7 people my friends. The Top picture is the scan of the tape & the bottom picture is of me in 1987, this is the music I was listening to around the same time. My first introduction to Gang Green was the February 1987 Thrasher.

Even I try to have fun...

So, I wasn't this bad & it didn't end up this cool. I went out tonight, well, technically last night (monday). Since it's now technically Tuesday. So I went out Monday to Armed Star Studios to help build more ramps. We ended up cutting 17 inches off of a 20' x 20' stage and lowering it, details if asked. My old friend Pat showed up with a case of Busch and helped. Then we went to Holiday Club because my friend Dave just started working there again after a short Hiatus. yada yada yada here's your blog, i'm going to bed, TTYL ✡Jew✡ oh and ⠆⠕⠃⠋ ⠂⠌⠉⠎⠄ People. $®ć ßÿ℗@§ gotta catch some Žžžžžž's
