Wellborn Clothing / Uprise Skateshop: ASM Skate Jam...

So, Uprise Skateshop, Wellborn Clothing, Character Skateboards, and, of course, our friend Junebug and his program After School Matters are having a skate jam tomorrow, THIS FRIDAY, August 3rd, 2012 from 1pm - 6pm.
I'm KNDA sad that I have to work until 7pm, so I'll be missing the whole thing. Maybe a few heads will still be rolling by the time I cruz by on mai way home.

It's located in the back of Roberto Clemente High School at the corners of Division & Western in Chicago.
Lots of open space, ledges, and stairs.

Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Myself...

Ultimate grom moment
So, Sundei, April 15th, 2012 was the reopening of the Vans Store in Santa Monica and they had a signing with Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Wes Humpston.
Wes never showed, but I did see Craig Stecyk just chilling in the background of the store. I approached him and said "Craig? I just recognized you and wanna say thanks for all the pics and words over the years growing up."
I had him sign the poster of Stacy doing 360's, that Stacy also had signed to me.

It was weird, it was moar nervousness asking for TA & SP's autographs, but when I saw Craig I got teary eyed and on the verge of crying. Dunno why, maybe because I didn't expect to see the guy who saw beyond waht these two were doing in the 70's as soemthing much moar than just kids fun. He gave it [skateboarding] life with his words, and a lifestyle with his pictures.
Thanks to the 3 of you, but moar importantly to Craig.
When I told him "I didn't expect to see you here." he kindly replied, "I was just walking by."

That, to me, was just so cool that he was just walking the saem beat he's always walked for the past 30-40 years.

So, if you call yourself a skateboarder and you don't skate curbs, please don't call yourself a skateboarder any longer, please? For the rest of us.

Jeff Grosso: Love Letters To Skateboarding, Backside Ollie...

So, I think this is prolly one of the most informative Love Letters to date. The backside ollie never actually started as an ollie, but rather as a carve that just came out of the bowl.

Slayer Vans...

So, I wish I would've jumped on (or in) these when they were in production, those slips would be dope to just chill out in, shuffling around on a Sundei moring going to brunch or wahtewer.
The black mid-tops look pretty dope as well. Perfect for walking the dog, wall hanging at a punk show, hell, maybe ever skate in them.
Now your luck finding them (and mine) is left to the seedy bidding ground of eBay for ungodly amounts of money.
Happy Bidding!!!
