Mark Gonzales 1999...

So, here's a dope vid that I've never seen before. It's basically him just hauling ass down hills in SF and explaining that it's better to not to explain skateboarding, you either get it or you don't.

Ambient Police Scanner...

So, there's a dope-ass website out there that has live Police scanner audio with atmospheric Ambient music, slightly laid over it, by artists from Soundcloud. It's so good.
You can also listen to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Montéal [Canada.]

It reminds me of the internet radio station from SomaFM called "Mission Control" which features Ambient music over the dialog of the Moon Landing between the Astronauts and, well, Mission Control.

This is not the new H-Street... (1990)

So, after Video Days [the Blind video] I would have to say that this is one of mai favorite skate videos of all time. So much of the skating in here laid the groundwork for waht all, if not most, of the skaters are doing todei.
A lot of the tricks might be dated, like the Impossible Tail Grab, the Sawblade (front foot impossible), the Ollie, and the 3-Flip tail grab just to name a few.

But all the footage herein did not consist of years of filming (like most of todei's video parts) all the footage showcased is prolly no moar than a few months old at the time.
New possibilities were being discovered on a daily basis back during "the dark times" of the skateboarding industry.

The shear rawness of the grainy VHS camcorder optics, the full extension on soem of the Ollie North Tail grabs, the infancy of most modern kids "go to" tricks, and, not-to-mention Chad Vogt's miniramp section are just a few things that make this video make me wanna go skate when it's 26℉ outside.
There's also soem really awesome stuff that isn't kooky, but nobody does anymoar sprinkled throughout.
BTW watch Marcus Wyndham @ 25:35

Inside Job: The Analysis Of Global Financial Crisis...

Inside Job, Narrated by Matt Damon (Full Length HD) from jwrock on Vimeo.
So, "'Inside Job' provides a comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008, which at a cost over $20 trillion, caused millions of people to lose their jobs and homes in the worst recession since the Great Depression, and nearly resulted in a global financial collapse. Through exhaustive research and extensive interviews with key financial insiders, politicians, journalists, and academics, the film traces the rise of a rogue industry which has corrupted politics, regulation, and academia. It was made on location in the United States, Iceland, England, France, Singapore, and China."

Wellborn Clothing: Shawn Turner & Joey Adamczyk @ Asylum...

PressPausePlay from House of Radon on Vimeo.
The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent in an unprecedented way, with unlimited opportunities.

But does democratized culture mean better art or is true talent instead drowned out? This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world's most influential creators of the digital era. www.presspauseplay.com @presspauseplay Facebook: http://on.fb.me/y4gEK1

Vermin Supreme: When I'm President Everyone Gets A Free Pony...

So, I might actually register to vote, just for this guy...
ZOMG! Now this is art, harnessing the power of Zombies for energy sources!!!!!!
At the end he turns a candidate Gay with færie pixie dust.

Julian Izaguirre: Street Killaz 3...

So, here's a dewd that I just love to have around when I skate, even if I'm skating with other people this kid shows up, he just makes it moar funner.
It's great to see soemone in the younger [new] generation wanting to skate because of the pure enjoyment of skating, having fun and killing it at the saem time.
I love that he gets pissed at his friends when they give lame excuses to not skate on a beautiful dei.
He just loves to skate, always smiling, has the charge & barge mentality, and down to skate with anybody.
If you ever come to Chicago and have the opportunity to skate with him, you are guaranteed to have fun, laughs, and a great session.
His chest piece can be a bit intimidating, but that smile just opens the doors.
Julian rides for Character Skateboards, Born & Hated and Modest skateshop in Forest Park, IL.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Got Me On The Line" by Ratt on Pandora from the album "Invasion Of Privacy" released in 1985.

Sheep Shoes: Life of Leisure 1996 part 3...

So, I hope you enjoyed the first two parts of the Sheep Shoes video because the best two parts of this video as a whole are in part 3.
I'm, of course, talking about Sergei Trudnowski and Ed Templman.
The only other Sergei part I've ever seen is his part in the Sub Zero video from 1995.
I always loved Ed's parts in any of his videos, maybe it's due to a bias because we share a similar interest in music.

Sheep Shoes were a Vegan skate shoe, which was pretty underground still and ahead of its time. I always wanted a pair because I idolized Ed Templeman since his Schmitt Stix days with Andy Howell.
I think Es shoes did a re-launch back in 2010. Dunno if they're still doing it since the Vegan thing is moar well known now.
Well not only did I find part 2, but I found part 3 on YouTube as well.

Sheep Shoes: Life of Leisure 1996 part 2...

So, here in part 2 we have Charlie Thomas, Brian Anderson, and Mike Manzoori...
Enjoy watching all these legends in their young 20's, well, I was 22 in '96 so I think they're about the saem age as I.
These dewdz are still ripping to this dei.

Sheep Shoes: Life of Leisure 1996 part 1...

So, here's a lil piece of skate history, the Sheep Shoes video from 1996.
I've never seen this, but knew about the shoes. Didn't know who Rick McCrank was until about 1999, but his part in this is pretty good.
Frank Hirata's part is still good to watch even at 2012 standards, his speed and lines are dope.
Part 1 ends with Matt Field cruzing around with a Wallride Nollie Indy out towards the end...

The Secret Of Nikola Tesla...

So, here's a movie that I have been meaning to watch for a number of years now. It paints Edison as the arrogant prick that he really was, and Nikola as the genius that, at times, couldn't quite understand his visions or just couldn't materialize them due to lack of resources because they were so far ahead of his time.
Next time you text, Skype®, stream, or watch this movie on this blog, from your laptop in a café on wifi, and charge your devices, remember that it was this man's vision. Fuck Edison!

Get'n Pho'kd Up On Pho...

Original Tasty Pho pic from Pho Café

Artsy Flavorful Instgram Pic
So, while on mai vacation I went to this Pho place, in Silver Lake, CA., that we were told was all the rage.
Now, mai whole thing with Pho is that it's been on the menu for years and there were a handful of places out there. I remember back in like 2002, while visiting Seattle, seeing one place. But lately within the past year or two they just started popping up and people are flipping out over them.
Do a Google search in your area... Tons!

It's just broth with veggies and/or meat.
Mai guess is that white people found out about it, and wanna feel like they're hip to AZN food culture w/o venturing to far down the culinary path. You're just having soup, you're not having a really tasteful AZN entreeatic tastebud orgasm.

Shit, I could go to the store now, buy a box of Knorr® broth, grab a handful of arugula (which is also popular now), soem carrots & cucumbers, grab a few chicken fajita strips from the bag I bought at Costco, and whip you up a nice Pho feast.
Grab you a few sticks from the backyard for chop sticks, and then eat like you're living in the stone ages.

It was a good meal, but nothing special to write home about.
I think chix like to go there so they feel like they "ate" a lot and don't feel like complete pigs while on a date. When in reality they just paid $7 for soem ramen.

Not dissing the time I had there, it was great, just don't see waht all the hype was about.
