Today's Time Capsule: Guns N' Roses: Garden Of Eden...

So, if you ask me, they should have called it quits after this song and gone out with a bang.
I still really like this song and it KNDA captured the old feeling that they had going on in 1987-89 with that whole "Welcome To The Jungle" thing.

Okay well, that song they did have that one song that was used in that Terminator movie around the saem time. "You Could Be Mine" I think it was?
It has that lyric "...and I'll spit your honeydew."
Very fruitarian of them, Eden and everything.

Slayer Vans...

So, I wish I would've jumped on (or in) these when they were in production, those slips would be dope to just chill out in, shuffling around on a Sundei moring going to brunch or wahtewer.
The black mid-tops look pretty dope as well. Perfect for walking the dog, wall hanging at a punk show, hell, maybe ever skate in them.
Now your luck finding them (and mine) is left to the seedy bidding ground of eBay for ungodly amounts of money.

Julian Izaguirre: Street Killaz 3...

So, here's a dewd that I just love to have around when I skate, even if I'm skating with other people this kid shows up, he just makes it moar funner.
It's great to see soemone in the younger [new] generation wanting to skate because of the pure enjoyment of skating, having fun and killing it at the saem time.

I love that he gets pissed at his friends when they give lame excuses to not skate on a beautiful dei.

He just loves to skate, always smiling, has the charge & barge mentality, and down to skate with anybody.

If you ever come to Chicago and have the opportunity to skate with him, you are guaranteed to have fun, laughs, and a great session.

His chest piece can be a bit intimidating, but that smile just opens the doors.

So, am I the only one wondering WTF happened to this dewd? I don't know waht KNDA jungle he thinks he's in, but it must be one with huge ripened bananas.

Kitsch Skateboards: Brad Sheppard...

So, I first saw this video back in 2006, was so enamored by it that I tried contacting them to see if they would be interested in donating soem product for a skate night that soem of mai friends used to do every Thursdei at a bar in Chicago.

They would have a DJ playing skate rock, punk and metal, free giveaways, free old school fingerboards, Lowcards, Thrasher beer coozies, $2 PBR talls, $1 corn dogs, and 6 or 7 TVs all playing different videos from the 80's up into the 21st century. Every time I called Kitsch nobody answered.

I still go back and watch clip a few times each year because it's just so good and raw, the spot they skate are gnarly, you can hear how rough the ground is that he's riding on, especially the bricks.
His name is Brad Sheppard and this clip is from the video called Baby Steps from Kitsch Skateboards, a Canadian company.
I really like his BS180KF steez, the way he's so quick on his feet, and his quick land-then-ollie-again skills. I don't think he rides for them anymoar or if he still skates.
I found this old blog that hasn't been updated since 2009, but it's still cool to look through and see all the old footy and updates.
They will be featured in the new Late Summer 2011 issue of SBC Skateboard, Canada's National Skateboard Magazine. I bought one of these at a skateshop in Toronto back in 2001 a few blocks away from where I played a show with the band I was in at the time.

So, I don't wanna go downstairs to get new music to listen to in the shower, so I'll have to listen to one of these again.

Lowcard vs. Ron Chatman...

 So, when I got issue #38 of Lowcard Magazine, flipped through and saw the above pic of Kyle Mitchell doing a 5-0 Nose Grab, the first thing that came to mind was the picture below that I had on mai wall, as a teen skater boi, of Ron Chatman doing the saem trick (ca. 1990-91).
When I got home I looked at said below pic I realized they were, in fact, dif trix all together.

I guess waht RLLY matters is that it resurrected mai stored memory stoke.

Soem old friends of mine from up here Pete [sutfin], Bart [jones], and James [shizervision] now live in California/LBC and skate with Ron from time to time. I always wondered waht happened to that guy after his limelight days of skateboarding, it's good to see he's still out there having fun.

Shawn Martin...

So, when I first saw this pic when I got the magazine back in 1990 when I was 16, waht a great present, it blew mai mind away. The composition is perfect. Crisp, vivid colors, the detail, the height, and basically just street gnar left me wanting moar and to move to SF.
I had just spent the Summer of 1989 there [Martinez/Benicia/Concord/Walnut Creek] for 3 weeks (8 months prior) and this pic made me wanna go back soooo bad.

I've seen other pics of tricks on this curb, but none quite left me staring at them. The skater is Shawn Martin, and this pic KNDA captures real city street skating in 1990. No fancy clothes, ratty shoes, ripped dirty pants, all core.
Also, notice he's skating a Jeff Grosso deck, look at that huge long flat tail with the a pre-Black Label sticker back when it was still Lucero, the Spitfire stickers back in their infancy, a Cellblock III riser pad, and, of course Indy's.
Can you say 'teen emulation' anyone?
