President Obama: White House Correspondents Dinner...

So, lemme just say that I this is a pretty damned good roast. I think it's great that a president becomes human like this, and isn't afraid to laugh at himself.
People respect you moar, like when Clinton played sax on Arsenio, people ate that shit up... He was a real-ass dewd!

Goosebumps...

Today's Time Capsule: Six Finger Satellite - Laughing Larry...

So, back in 1993 I used to listed to this cassette ALLLLLL the time. It was released on Sub Pop records, and I was KNDA like a Sub Pop freak back then, buying most of the catalog. This pretty much never left mai car for about a year. Maybe I should go back and revisit this recording.

I did have the pleasure of seeing these guys live in Chicago back in 1994 at the Logan Square Auditorium. They played with Shellac and soem other bands, I don't remember. That is, until I searched and found this archived article on the Chicago Reader website.
I do remember it was during the baseball strike because all the bands had baseball uniforms made with their band names on the front, last names on the back. At the merch table there were baseballs for sale that were signed by all the bands.
I wonder how much they are going for now?

Adidas Skateboarding: Japan Feature...

So, this is an old Adidas video from 2008, but it still has soem guts to it. Especially with Si-Bax & Busenitz.

Zombie Pub Crawl, Sci-Fi, Skateboarding, and Music...

So, if you're itching to for soemthing to do this WKND in Chicago or surrounding areas, there's no shortage of fun things going on, well, four anyway.

There's the 5th Annual Chicago Zombie Pub Crawl happening up in the Andersonville neighborhood from 2pm - 8pm. (maybe later?)
Next, just a tad South and a little bit West of the ZPC listed above is the Sci-Fi Spectacular #6 at The Portage Theater! hosted by "the man" Mr. Rusty Nails himself.
(My boss's's website is a huge fan, and friend, of his.)
So, you could prolly buy your tickets now, do the Zombie thing, then Crawl from the Pubs on down to here since you'd already be dressed for the occasion, kinda. (More Info about Movies playing)
If you live in the suburbs and don't feel like driving into the city dealing with traffic, parking, and parking meters maybe you should drive out to DeKalb, Illinois for the SMLTWN 5 year Anniversary / Dream On Video Premiere. There'll be a game of S.K.A.T.E. as well as live music to keep you grooving into the night.

On Sunday night, if you happen to be in Chicago, you should try to catch mai friend Lou Shields perform at Red Line Tap.
If you'd like to give his music a sample try this link to his page on Reverb Nation.

Metra Head Rub...

This guy has the wrong idea about the term "giving head."
He did this the whole trip until his stop came up, at least 30 minutes.

The Aggrocrag...

So, here's a place called Dan's Danger Zone aka "The Aggrocrag."
Why can't any skaters in Illinois get together like this to make soem serious DIY madness?

So, aside from Rodney Mullen, this is the guy you should thank for pretty much all of your modern street trickery. He even impressed Gonz back then.

Stop Water Privatization In Illinois...

So, I think you should all Call your Representative to stop water privatization in Illinois if you read this blog and are living in Illinois.
Also, look into this issue in your own area and contact your local Representative.

4 Year Old Ticketed $300 For Sidewalk Chalk...

So, I think this is a little overboard with the strong arm of the law trying to take away any last bit of freedom that you think you may have left.
IT'S SIDEWALK CHALK YOU MORON!!!
It washes away...
This KNDA reminds me of the story of the cops busting those 3 girls who had a lemonade stand just trying to make soem money to go to the water park.

Today's Time Capsule: The Wildhearts - Sick Of Drugs...

So, I first heard this band from a compilation called "Caffeine Bomb Mix" which also featured bands like Fretbanket, Snuff, and Leatherface to name a few.

Today's Time Capsule: Nomeansno - All Lies...

So, this album by NOMEANSNO was the first CD that I ever bought. The year was 1989 (14, Freshman), and I was shopping at the local Camelot Music in the [original] St. Charles Mall in beautiful St. Charles, IL. 60174.
I remember just browsing the "alternative" section looking for soemthing cool.
(this was back before Alternative became a music genre [like indie], but rather a section of music that couldn't be quite classified. For example: You'd have Butthole Surfers next to Circle Jerks next to Fad Gadget next to Psychic TV next to Renegade Soundwave and anything else punk/post punk/experimental...)

One thing about this dei that I'll never forget was that while I was looking around, this dude/friend [Tim Gallagher] in the same class as me walked in with this kid Eric Doherty and we started chatting doing small talk.

Tim-   "What's up? You know Eric?"
Me-    "Nothing, yeah, we've met before."
Tim-   "Cool, waht'ya doing?"
Me-    "Looking for new music, thinking about getting a CD."
Tim-   "Cool, which one?"
Me-    "Dunno, I was looking at these, but don't know whether to get this album (forgot the other band) or this NOMEANSNO album."
Tim-   "Dude, get the NOMEANSNO! You heard these guys?"
Me-    "No, but I've always seen their shit in the Alternative Tentacles catalogs, but never knew waht they sounded like"
Tim-   "Yeah, dude, get this, you'll love these guys."
Me-    "Cool, thanks. See yah later."

Sadly, that's one of the last things I remember about him. His parents enrolled him into a military school later that year and he committed suicide while there.
As long as I listen to NOMEANSNO and especially whenever I listen to "Wrong" I'll always remember the short friendship, punk bond we created that one year.

Thank you, Tim for the great recommendation. I still have it, and it still has no scratches.

Today's Time Capsule: Hellhammer - Crucifixion...

So, here's soem catchy black metal from 1983 by way of Hellhammer.
I don't listen to these as much anymore because all my metal CDs are in storage boxed away still. But, you should give their other songs on YouTube a listen if you like metal, and have never heard these guys before.

Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Myself...

Ultimate grom moment
So, Sundei, April 15th, 2012 was the reopening of the Vans Store in Santa Monica and they had a signing with Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Wes Humpston.
Wes never showed, but I did see Craig Stecyk just chilling in the background of the store. I approached him and said "Craig? I just recognized you and wanna say thanks for all the pics and words over the years growing up."
I had him sign the poster of Stacy doing 360's, that Stacy also had signed to me.

It was weird, it was moar nervousness asking for TA & SP's autographs, but when I saw Craig I got teary eyed and on the verge of crying. Dunno why, maybe because I didn't expect to see the guy who saw beyond waht these two were doing in the 70's as soemthing much moar than just kids fun. He gave it [skateboarding] life with his words, and a lifestyle with his pictures.
Thanks to the 3 of you, but moar importantly to Craig.
When I told him "I didn't expect to see you here." he kindly replied, "I was just walking by."

That, to me, was just so cool that he was just walking the saem beat he's always walked for the past 30-40 years.

Barrier Kult: Timebomb File Episode 4...

So, if you like the Skateboarding, the Devil, and the Jersey Barrier you should check out this video of insane-concrete-metal-murder-ski-mask-madness.
This KNDA reminds me of the Liver Diet imagery.

From the Concrete Skateboarding website:
"Throughout 2011 and into early 2012 we collaborated with notorious abrupt transition worshippers, the BARRIER KULT, producing 6 sinister Range Of Propaganda chapters, each profiling high ranking Kultists. MUSKELLUNGE OF DARK ISLAND, CRUSADE TEMPLAR HORSE SKELETON, BEAST OF GEVAUDAN, DEPTH LEVIATHAN DWELLER, STATUE OF THE BLACK CROW and DEER MAN OF DARK WOODS are featured amongst the madness...
...Take another look at Episode 4 of the Timebomb Trading Files, which features D.M.O.D.W. Pay attention, as you’ll be asked a question relating to the Range Of Propaganda and this video in order to win a stacked BA.KU. prize pack."

TCMT VOL.14: Detox...

So, this video was posted to mai Facebook timeline todei by Marcus King from TCMT (the crew mixtapes) so I gave it a view and liked waht I saw, even if I don't like hip hop that much.
The only dewd I can say that I really know personally is Timmy Johnson (he raps in the group thuMp!) with our mutual friend Soma, you should check them out soemtime.

There are soem pretty crazy manuals, ledge tricks, and let me just say real quick... ENDER!
OMG, it's a mindfux just to think about waht the hell he did, and try to dissect it.
Check out their Facebook page after you watch this.

William Spencer: Crazy Skateboarding Tricks...

So, you be the judge.
Talent or Kookdom?

Today's Time Capsule: Guns N' Roses: Garden Of Eden...

So, if you ask me, they should have called it quits after this song and gone out with a bang.
I still really like this song and it KNDA captured the old feeling that they had going on in 1987-89 with that whole "Welcome To The Jungle" thing.

Okay well, that song they did have that one song that was used in that Terminator movie around the saem time. "You Could Be Mine" I think it was?
It has that lyric "...and I'll spit your honeydew."
Very fruitarian of them, Eden and everything.

Pat Washington & Dax Miller: Day In The Life...

So, here is a dewd I've never heard of, Pat Washington, with a dewd that I do know, Dax Miller.
In the video they skate the "secret facility" in the middle of winter "somewhere on the south side" of Chicago.
I found this video while looking at the Airspeed Footwear website after watching a Google+ interview of the Bones Brigade on YouTube.
