Savannah Slamma 1 Contest 1987 from MaSskateboarding.com on Vimeo.
Savannah Slamma 1 Contest 1987
This Vid had a sick soundtrack but not as good as Ohio SkateOut !
Neil Blender, Steve Caballero, Chris Cook, Sam Cunningham, Bill Danforth, Gary Scott Davis, Adrian Demain, Eric Dressen, Eddie "El Gato" Elguera, Mark Gonzales, Claus Grabke, John Grigley, Tommy Guerrero, Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi, Bryce Kanights, Natas Kaupas, Jeff Kendall, Johnee Kop, John Lucero, Jesse Martinez, Mike McGill, Ken McGuire, Lance Mountain, Arron Murray, Monte Nolder, Corey O'Brien, Steve Rocco, Rob Roskopp, Kevin Staab, John Thomas, Jon Tryer, Mike Vallely, Per Welinder, Chris Baucom
So, here's the historic street contest Savannah Slamma... THE WHOLE VIDEO!!!
At the time I thought Vallely skated better as an amateut than when he went pro.
Gonz always amazed me, and now that I go back and watch, I'm all like "damn, back then!?!?"
Now that I watch Guerrero I think "I don't remember him tic tac-ing with tight trucks."
Dressen is still fun to watch, but everyone else is just sorta, eh?
Except Cab, his clip in this is massive, the airs, wallrides are huge! Did you see that cesslide (sp?)
A lot of the rest are just doing the judge/crown pleaser tricks, and/or are not really that great or progressive.

I hope you all enjoy this song, and maybe contact them for the rights to use it in your next skate video or short film.
They're from Long Beach, CA. and play regularly around town.

Duane Peters and Mickey and Steve Alba Skating Pipeline
So, this is a great look back at some legends in their twenties...
In 1981 I prolly took mai first push on a banana board that mai brother had.
I still remember the first time I ever pushed and stood on a board, we were living in in Genoa, IL. and I couldn't have been moar than 6 - 8 years old, granted I only rolled about two feet and jumped off, but I quickly learned that it's not as easy as it looked.
It wasn't until 1985 that I actually started skateboarding, haven't stopped since. (I don't count the year off, 92-93, because that was for medical reasons)

forever young from mlechnyj tuman on Vimeo.
So, this song was covered back in 2006, when I first saw this, by the Sydney, Australia band Youth Group.
It was originally done in the 80's by the German synth-pop, steampunk group Alphaville.
I really thoroughly enjoy this version, with the accompanying video, it gives me chills and makes me get teary eyed.
At least I admit it.
From Wiki: " A music video was released consisting of footage from the early-1970s Australian youth television program GTK, showing Australia's first skateboarding contest being held at the Coca-Cola factory in Frenchs Forest, New South Wales in 1975.")

So, just in case there was any confusion about the blog author.
These dudes hail from The Bay Area and some members left to make up the group Hell's Kitchen with members of Fang and Verbal Abuse.
It doesn't get moar skate rock than The Boneless Ones.

So, here's a vid of soem dudes I know from Chicago.
They made the news on MSNBC and on Huffington Post (where you can see the video again)
I've known Dalba for years and had just met Tylor on Monday night at the Hated Skateboards Skate Night at Bonny's, but have been waited on by him many times at his "real" job. He's always wearing soem sorta skate shirt, and I'm always like "who dis dude done be go is?"
Also, here's Hated's skate vid in full effizzect!

So, the city of Villa Park, IL. (wiki) currently has a real shitty park that is no more than just a safety hazard and, for years, a number of parents have been trying to get a new concrete park built by Grindline Skateparks.
This July 15th they are holding a fundraiser for only $10.
For $10 you get a skateboard demo/contest/game of S.K.A.T.E., a BMX demo, a free Car & Motorcycle show complete with trophies, and 8 bands.
The Car & Motorcycle show is free, so feel free to bring your vehicles out for a good cause. I know many Car & Motorcycle enthusiasts who used to skateboard from that area and had no parks to skate and, probably, got many tickets for doing so.
Plus!!! You get to see chicago punk legends The Bolweevils.
(...in case you don't know who they are...)
Come on out and support the park, support the kids, show off your vehicles, watch a few bands, and have a great time.
