Free Cocaine...

So, when I first saw this I immediately thought "hmmm, how can they do that?"

Then I thought "well, maybe it's a music workshop about production and how to go about getting that sound that The Dwarves had in their "Free Cocaine" era."
I never did find out what it was all about, I just let mai imagination run wild.

This is the sort of thing you'd see on soem segment in a late-night talk show like Craig Ferguson, Letterman, Leno, or the crowd fave.... Conan.

This Is Why I'm Fat...

So, I've come to realize that due to mai eating habits and weird cravings eating stuff like this is why I'm fat.
Not mai metabolism or lack of excercise, but eating a World's Finest milk chocolate crisped rice candy bar covered in Mild, Taco Bell sauce.

Today's Time Capsule, fIREHOSE...

So, back in 1991 as a senior in HS we would go to Chicago on the WKNDs to go skate, buy music, and see bands that we liked play live. In this case I did not do the latter.

Shucks, soemtimes we would go on a whim in the middle of the week if we had nothing better to do. Back then gas was only maybe $1.00/gal.

I think it was prolly 89¢ - 99¢

I remember going to Reckless Records on Broadway and buying music and upon leaving saw a stack of these in the front window. Now, I had all intentions of going to this show because ever since Speed Freaks came out in 1989 I had been obsessed with the fIREHOSE sound.

The way Windmilling just makes you wanna cruz around on your board having the best time of your life, how Some Things, For the Singer of REM, Anti-Misogyny Maneuver  and Riddle of the Eighties make you wanna take a ride in your car on a summer dei with all the windows down with no destination in mind, how What Gets Heard make you think of Danny Way's part, and Mike Watt's bass solo on From One Cums One is just awesome.

I hung these fliers all over mai High School and I only have this one left in mai collection. I never made it to the show, but I bet it was pretty fucking amazing.

Silas Baxter Neal...

So, I was on the Sleestak site in one of their forums and soem dewd posted this *pic in a comment box of SiBax doing a Gap to Backside Lipslide, or G2BSLS if you talk that way. Most people just prolly say Gap to Back lip though.
Silas was living in the Chicago area out in Schaumburg for a bit, but then moved closer to the city. I think his GF / Wife was going to school or soem ish in Illinois.

He's an amazing skater to watch, I had the pleasure of being able to snake him on more than one occasion at the Wilson park in Chicago. I dunno if it bothered him or if he didn't mind.
My guess is that he liked it because it made him feel moar alive, that and the fact that I was one of the few skating and not sitting down gawking like most of the people at the park.

It's weird a dude like Silas will just show up at random and everybody sits down, watches him, and doesn't bother him. But... if were to show up during a demo he'd be hounded for his board, stickers, shoes, autograph and not be given any room to skate.
I've seen it happen when Jake Phelps and Julien Stranger showed out of nowhere in a Subaru Outback or when Trujillo and his King of the Road team came through in 2003 the kids just sit down and watched how you're supposed to skate.
During a demo I've seen Koston have like a sidewalk width to skate, Greco never even got outta the car one.
