So, when tragedy or nature strikes, most people see destruction, but we skateboarders always search and see the world through a different set of eyes. Take a look at this picture.
Living in SF, Julien is no Stranger to the effects and aftermath of earth's turmoil, nor is he affected. This here is a prime example of how we see things. The city sees it as a road hazard, the citizens see it as an inconvenience.
To us, it's skateboarding's golden miracle of chance, a spot that may only be around for 1 day or 1 week... you never know when it will be taken back, so seize it while you can.
This spot was made possible by the Loma Prieta earthquake that hit on October 17th, 1989 @ 5:04 PM.
Oh, BTW. If you didn't notice, they spelled his name wrong.
If you see soemthing in your town that's skateable and temporary, by all means, don't flake on the chance. If you see a stack of plywood against a fence in a parking lot get out, do a few wallrides, and get back in and go home. You just snuck a session for yourself before the rest of the world knew waht you were even doing.
As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "I Want Your Body (12" Mix)" by Nymphomania from the compilation "Big Hard Disk vol.1" released in 1992.
This track also appears on the True Romance Soundtrack.
