Gonz literally in the sky, and Hawk literally on land. 

Mark Gonzales is one of many GOATs in skateboarding. A true ATV.

"Mark Gonzales' frontside air over Tony Hawk's frontside grind at Tony's ramp at his house in Fallbrook, California, was shot in 1988 and is pretty rare."

Steve Caballero: Street Style Reedit...

So, I haven't seen 75% of this footage, It's so awesome to see Steve Caballero skate street.

Lance Mountain, Independent Stage V...

So, this is the ad that got me to start riding Independent Trucks. At the time in 1987 I loved how Lance Mountain and Chris Miller skated, for soem reason this ad spoke to me, I had been riding Venture up until this point and I guess during the H-Street era of '89-'90 I did ride Gullwing Trucks. 

This was on my wall from a 1987 Thrasher Magazine.

So, this is a great look back at some legends in their twenties...
In 1981 I prolly took mai first push on a banana board that mai brother had.

I still remember the first time I ever pushed and stood on a board, we were living in in Genoa, IL. and I couldn't have been moar than 6 - 8 years old, granted I only rolled about two feet and jumped off, but I quickly learned that it's not as easy as it looked.

It wasn't until 1985 that I actually started skateboarding, haven't stopped since. (I don't count the year off, 92-93, because that was for medical reasons)

So, this is the 3rd and final slappy that I captured on video using mai white, non S, iPhone4.

It was a magical dei of bringing a dilapidated, neglected, crusty yellow curb back to life without the aid of petroleum based byproducts. Just the right speed, the right lean, and the right trucks.

So, last sunday, March 25th, 2012 I was supposed to meet up to skate with Marfa from Wellborn Clothing and some other random dewdz. They were waiting around for one moar guy to show up so I decided to park, go on a the hunt for a virgin slappy curb, and wait for them.
I had no wax, no broom, and only the loose Indys that god [Fausto] intended for just such an adventure.
These are mai pictures of that adventure...

Who Needs Wax? Just Rub Soem Grass On It...

So, I went out street skating if front of FUSAK's house todei, found this sweet lil curb that has a perfect angle to slappy, trouble was, there was not enuff paint left on it, and we had no wax.

From mai years of experience I knew that a handful of grass scrubbed on the crete gave it enuff slickety-do-dah to let you work that indy truck dust into the pores of the crete.

FUSAK never saw that trick and KNDA flipped out when I started grinding. I did it to another curb, by this driveway we were skating next to this, that was a natty virge. (no paint, never skated)

Skate Healthy...

So, it's key to stay healthy when you skate, natural stamina from fruit (pineapple) and water rather than dehydrating synthetics like energy drinx and oatmeal cream pies.

New Skateboard...

So, I got a new complete todei... you diggin the free sheet of grip that Alchemy sent me?

Independent Trucks...

So, Im selling an old pair of Independent Trucks on eBay via This Auction.

These are the 101 Freestyle trucks that were on an old Kevin Harris deck that has been in mai basement for at least the past 20 years, I don't remember where I got it.

They also have the Original Truck Hole Pattern.

I posted a picture of them on Independent's Facebook page asking if they knew waht stage these were and they told me that they were prolly Stage V's judging by the "beefed up" hanger.

Shawn Martin...

So, when I first saw this pic when I got the magazine back in 1990 when I was 16, waht a great present, it blew mai mind away. The composition is perfect. Crisp, vivid colors, the detail, the height, and basically just street gnar left me wanting moar and to move to SF.
I had just spent the Summer of 1989 there [Martinez/Benicia/Concord/Walnut Creek] for 3 weeks (8 months prior) and this pic made me wanna go back soooo bad.

I've seen other pics of tricks on this curb, but none quite left me staring at them. The skater is Shawn Martin, and this pic KNDA captures real city street skating in 1990. No fancy clothes, ratty shoes, ripped dirty pants, all core.
Also, notice he's skating a Jeff Grosso deck, look at that huge long flat tail with the a pre-Black Label sticker back when it was still Lucero, the Spitfire stickers back in their infancy, a Cellblock III riser pad, and, of course Indy's.
Can you say 'teen emulation' anyone?

So, I was just cruz'n around on eBay looking for prices on vintage skateboard gear because I'm trying to thin out mai archives and came across these bad boiz, a pair of vintage Freestyle "101" Independent Trucks.
