HAKAS Has Begun...

So, thanks to Chicago weather, Hakas Tour has been post-PWND for almost a month now. It seems that the next few months will be on the up side of Sunny Days rather than the up side Rainy. A full cast of Flatbellies, Barneys, Kooks, Mallgrabbers, Mongo Pushers and Data Files. So, enjoy the preview, it's not a trailer, because they were called trailers because they used to play them AFTER the movie was over, like a trailer.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Gary's Breakfast" by Butterglove from the album "The John Morand Session" 1997. Butterglove is some pretty good math rock ish with Pen Rollings on guitar. Perfect for HAKAS Tour.

Tuxedos... UPDATE...

So, it turns out that the Tuxedos cookie franchise has sucked me in again with another great cookie. This time the cookie flavor vortex includes a delicious Cinnamon Bun flavor. OMG, TD4, SFG.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "On Lydia's Sixth Moon" by Another Green World from the Return to the Source compilation "Deep Trance & Ritual Beats" (Disc 2) 1995. Some more great ambient chillout music.

Awe Crepes! No Scurvy For Me, Thank You...

So, were you think of maybe someday making breakfast for your sweety? Well, here is a recipe for Orange Crepes with Fruit Filling. The recipe is from the Florida Department of Citrus and Chef Scott Uehlein of Canyon Ranch.
Start with the ingredients for the Crepes:
4 Eggs
3/4 Cup Orange Juice (I personally would use tropicana not from concentrate)
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1/8 Teaspoon Salt
7 Generous Tablespoons of Flour

Now for the Fruit Filling:
1 Cup Fresh Blueberries
1 Cup Fresh Raspberries
1 Cup Fresh Quartered Strawberries
1 Cup Fresh Blackberries

Powdered Sugar is Optional.
Directions:

In a blender container, place eggs, orange juice, sugar and salt. Cover and pulse 15 seconds until combined.

While blender is on, add flour one Tablespoon at a time until blended well. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Melt 1/2 Tablespoon butter in a 10" nonstick saute pan. Pour 3 Tablespoons of batter into the pan and swirl around to coat the bottom of the pan evenly. Cook until edges are nice and brown and middle is firm to the touch. Loosen edges and flip crepe and cool for approximately 15 seconds. Slide out of pan onto plate, cover with foil while continuing to make crepes with remaining batter.

In a medium bowl, combine fruit with 1 Tablespoon of sugar. Using a fork, crush the berries slightly to allow the juices to come out.

Place 2 crepes on a plate. Ladle 1/4 cup of the fruit mixture on one side of each crepe and roll crepe over the fruit. Garnish with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.

I did not write this one, I copied it directly from a recipe card that we printed at my old job. It looked so good that I took one that was cut crooked home with me in the hopes of making it someday for my sweety, now I may have that chance.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Departure" by Jeff Loomis from the album "Zero Order Phase", 2008. He tried out for Megadeth in 1987 but was too young.

Cookies & Penguins...

So, Ever since February 1999, after having my teeth knocked out, I got in the habit of eating Oreos (or their off-brand competitors) with water. Some people might hear that and say Ewwwww. It's only water. I cut out drinking milk directly, but I haven't cut out eating food with it still in there. I also used to rip apart pieces of wheat bread put them roll them into balls, put them in my mouth and drink some water also. Wow, I just said I put balls in my mouth.

Anyway, I like saving money at times on food items that I feel are Waaaay too expensive, one of these items is Oreos. I was never a real big fan of Oreos to begin with, they just seemed too waxy & gritty. I have found that the Tuxedos from Safeway, or better known as Dominick's brand in Chicago, are the best for price & more importantly taste. It seem like they are always on sale or have a great deal, you can basically buy two Tuxedos or one Oreo. Simple Math. Something the teach you in 7th grade Home-Economics class in spotting the better buy. Another alternative is Target's Market Fresh "Cookies n Creme" cookie, these can go for about $1.75/box or on a good day they can be 2 for 1 which is always a good thing. I came across a site that set out to find the best oreo knock-offs for your buck, and taste buds. It turns out that the Tuxedos was #1.

The Tuxedos also come in different flavors like Mint Chip, Neapolitan, S'Mores, Chocolate Creme and the always favorite Double Filled Creme. You give a kid a S'Mores Tuxedo and they will be in heaven. I have turned co-workers and friends onto the Neapolitans & they are hooked. There is also a Tuxedos Ice Cream, which I have yet to try. No music listening post today, I am currently transferring files from my hard drive back onto a friend's hard drive. Fun!!!
