The Deathwish Video: Jim Greco...

So, this fucking part has to be the best, gnarliest video part I've seen so far. Jim Greco has a Deathwish.
Also, dude does proper behind the knee grabs when doing nose-picks, none of that crab style shit.

Slayer Vans...

So, I wish I would've jumped on (or in) these when they were in production, those slips would be dope to just chill out in, shuffling around on a Sundei moring going to brunch or wahtewer.
The black mid-tops look pretty dope as well. Perfect for walking the dog, wall hanging at a punk show, hell, maybe ever skate in them.
Now your luck finding them (and mine) is left to the seedy bidding ground of eBay for ungodly amounts of money.
Happy Bidding!!!

Skateboarding: Michael Patterson...

So, I'm not gunna tell you when it is, but he does a wicked looking Swinch Boardrail Tre-Bozo out...
Soemtimes he skates slow and some of his tricks are KNDA tic-tac'd out of, but they are still pretty dope trickx.
Peace, Two Fingaz!
The track in the video is "Alter of Sacrifice" by Slayer from the album "Reign In Blood" released in 1986.

Tony Trujillo Autograph...

So, Tony was stoked when I asked him to sign this. They rolled up to Wilson at night during the first KOTR.
I introduced myself stating that I was friends with Jackson Taylor, because he stayed with him the previous visit when we took them to Club Foot and Gerwer got a bobo in the stall.

Today's Time Capsule, Bloodcum...

So, as you all may be familiar with Slayer or at least heard the name at some point in your life, I dunno, maybe they have a song on on of those Guitar Games, most of you might have never heard of Bloodcum though.
The reason I bring up Slayer is the fact that Tom Araya's brother John was in this band. Formed in 1986 in Los Angeles, California with friend Joey Fuchs who was given the nickname "Hanneman" thus giving some confusion as to Bloodcum being some sick incestuous sibling metal band when in fact it was just little Johnny.

That doesn't go as saying that they aren't any less like Slayer, they are like a more Thrash Slayer than Metal Slayer. The Solos on this album are definitely Slayer induced though, almost as if they had the same guitar and rig set-up. At some parts they sound like D.R.I. in their "Crossover" period.

Speaking of periods, the title track of this album has a rant about a minute in to the song going on about "how would you like it if you were stuck in a jar for the rest of your life in formaldehyde, and a bunch of kids in Biology class were chopping you up, and you're just thinking, "God, what am I doing here?", all because your Mom had to go to the little birth control clinic and yank out and yank you out like a piece of hamburger, 'PLOP' you hit the table and then that's it. You know, in my idea, that sucks."
Pretty political stuff, but I guess that's what true metal is all about. Sure some sub-genres of metal talked about Unicorns & Wizards. During my year of 1987 I started getting into Speed Metal and loved every minute of the raw aggression, power, fantasy, decadence, debauchery what-have-you, all of which lasted until about 1990 when the metal scene KNDA died much like that of how the Vert scene dive bombed in Skateboarding around the same time.

One thing I love about Metal is the excessive use of the Dive-Bomb in songs, and Baby, this album has tons of them, it's almost apocalyptic in frequency of use. Now, I know that it's 1988 and guitar madness was running rampant, but it takes a special talent to come across as such bad asses you wouldn't think about even fighting or even saying happy birthday to. Sort of like a smile and nod. Is this even making sense anymore?
Am I lost in some sort of mental salad of thought, being tossed as I write about and listen to the 21 minute barrage of rapid fire drumming, dive bomb guitars and mortar-like chugging? Maybe, but all of this has got my mind wandering. Great! Now I think I hear the riff from "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica in the first song on this album. You know, the one in the video above? Happilly Married.
If you even see anything by this band, be it a demo cassette, test pressing, free download, 3rd generation tape copy, the original sealed LP copy or even 2nd hand, buy it. Well, if you're a fan of metal that is, if you're a metal pundit you could prolly get it just to have something to say.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Parasite" by Dom & Roland from the album "Back for the Future" 2002. Drum & Bass for you steppers out there.

The Bros Are Back In Town...

So, some of the old Manatee crew is going to be in town this week for a few days/weeks. My first sighting was Tim Ward from Chumphange blogitude, he just drove back 27 hours from Temp, AZ with his Daddy. I saw him at Wilson Skatepark in the Chi (pronounced Shy, not Chee or Chai which is pronouced Ch-eye not Kai) he rolled up with POB & Dav, you should know Dav from Yay! A shoppe for boards over at his Skate Illinois webplace or @ Yay Beardshop funness center. The word on the street From Six Pack Chris (Poke It) is that we are getting a Fetter in the town also, now all we need is for Chris Smith to take some time off from the art scene and have a big hoopla of a time eating Pizza & Sipping Liquids. Matt Blevins, Alex "lefty" Cohen, Pat Franklin & Zach Arctander (spelling?) Gordon & even BMX rider Kevin Porter showed up for a minute to film a line which I kept getting in his way almost every time on accident. He said it was cool because it looked like I was having more fun. On a different subject, I wore shorts skating for the first time this year. Man, was that weird. Legs were a little white, but you could still see my sock tan from years past. I'm being a puss about trying to 5-O & Tailslide an 18 inch metal edge curb. I don't know why, I know I can ollie over a 24 inch cone from flat & even up onto a 30 inch wall. What's with people waxing their Boards and Trucks? I'm sorry, but go faster and lean back into it a little, chances are it's you that is doing something wrong, not the board or curb. Now I understand that some types of surfaces need some coaxing, but not a metal edge at a skatepark. Maybe a 30 year old rusty pipe or a freshly poured curb. Wipe off that sweat from your greasy energy drink filled forehead. I think I might have to make a video about how to & when to apply wax. I really should take a shower now, I mean it's 2:15 in the afternoon for X's sake, get some food stuffs, look for a job & go play on my skateboard at the skateboard field. I keep typing Skateboard as skatebpard or skatebpoard. WTF fat fingers, I never learned how to type correctly. As of the time of the end of this post I am currently listening to "The Candy Man" by Sloppy Seconds from the album "Destroyed" 1989. There I go again, I end the post and forget about something else that happened, so NOOOOW I am listening to "Antichrist" by Slayer from the album "Show No Mercy" 1983
