Barrier Kult...

So, way B in the D in 2004 there were a group of dewdz that broke away from the current state of skateboarding and made a Satanic skate video called Barrier Kult.
Ripping and Raging on Jersey Barriers and Pig-nose decks.
Enjoy the video, be sure to check out video #2 also.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Večný Návrat" by Master's Hammer from the album "Rituál" released in 1991.
I wonder if Metal Cakes would make a Masters Hammer theme?

Early Grab Fever...

So, on our way back from LA and staying with Melcher on his floor, we stopped in AZ for 1.5 days.
This video was from our first night when we rolled into AZ around 7pm on the 15th of February.
We stayed with mai friends Frog & Joy.

We hooked up with Frog & Al to come skate with us before Frog had to go to work at 10pm.
The first place we went was this ditch, this is Al with a backside grab off the ditch wall, I guess it could be called early grab. Not early in the traditional sense where you are already grabbing before you ride up. He rides up rolls for a bit then yanks off. (not that way, you sicko)

Al used to own First Gear skate shop, before selling it to Slim and moving to AZ.
Slim then closed first gear and Matt the employee bought and re-opened it under the name Modest. They have a pretty sick team and a killer video that's also KNDA on the art side, but not OTT (over the top) like those Lakai / Girl things.
First Gear had soem names back then, when they were weeee little innocent kids from the subbies of Chicago, that you might know now like Marisa Dal Santo, Pat Pasquale, Billy Teichen, and Zack Stuart-Fry. They also had a video called Jinxed. (in 4 parts on youtube)

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Bruce" by Bongwater from the album "Double Bummer (Disc 2)" released in 1988 on guitarist Mark Kramer's, Shimmy Disc record label.

Diet Tripping...

So, one thing I don't like about going on road trips is the fact that there aren't that many healthy food options that you get accustomed to living in a diverse city. Usually when you're on the road these highways run straight through the thick of the country.

As you can see in the picture above, I have a jug of water, a jug of lemonade, a beef stick, a bag of deep fried salted peanuts, and a bag of Flavor Twists. I think the only healthy thing I had going for me was the bottle of Joint Juice I drank on the daily, my B12 tablet, and Cinnamon capsules
You can't really drive 5000 miles and just eat apples, oranges, and narnas.
Okay, maybe YOU can.

Nobody has heard of a "Garden Burger" at a Subway (in them parts) so you end up having to get a sub of all vegetables, and that's about the healthiest thing you can eat on the road, problem is, you aren't traveling alone. You have 3 other dewdz with you who all want soemthing dif.
I mean, sure, there was this one place that was the "Home of the Laguna Burger," but You're better off just grabbing apples, oranges, and narnas off the front counter at the QT or Circle K.

Forget about finding Vegan options on the road. If you go to a restaurant, ask if they have anything Vegan, people start looking at you with a blank or misunderstood stare like Vegan is a disease or soemthing.
When you do decide to stop for food other than at the mini-mart at the gas station one wants Taco Bellyache, one wants McDowell's, one wants Vegan, and me? Well, I'll find soemthing at anyone of those places. If you ask me nothing beats a Spicy Chickers Combo from Wedny's with a DP.

So, my goal on this trip was to eat healthy while on the road and in LA, let's just say that all went in the shitter. Marfa is Vegan so I have no prob going that route. It's the two other guys that were afraid of it it seemed like. You can't really go wrong with a Pita place. (which everyone passed on except me)

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Welcome To My Mind (Labotomy Mix)" by Psykosonik from the "Welcome To My Mind" single released in 1994 on WaxTrax!/TVT records.

Semi Safe...

So, on February 9th I went on a small road trip with Marfa's company Wellborn Clothing, his rider Shawn Turner, filmer Lee Larkins and Patrick Melcher to Los Angeles, CA.
On the way out on our first dei I see this Semi with the driver talking on his cellphone.
The roads were complete ish and full attention should've been this guys priority, on top of that, the reason I took this photo is because while we were behind this him we noticed, on moar than one occasion, his truck crossing the lines drastically.
So we thought it be the best decision that we get in front of him just in case anything did happen.
On the way by I snapped this photo.

As of the end of this post I am currently listening to "Old Collins Airfield" by Jodie Lyons from the album "Talkin' Smokey" released in 1975.
No Joke this came on right as I started writing the "as of the end" part...
It's a record of country tunes and CB lingo for truckers...
