Skate Photog...

So, not only do I skate, I'm also an aspiring photographist. I studied photo in HS and College and have been taking amateur photos since about the age of 9.
I still consider myself an amateur photographist because I make no money at it, that and the fact that it's mainly just for my own personal use for global recognition through the eyes of the net.
This particular photo dates from about 1994. I got those trucks during my Sophomore year of college at a Hobby Shop in Elgin, IL., the truck are a pair of Gullwings and the deck is a Matt Pailes pro model on Think.
Speaking of think, I think that the deck was 8 inches wide while the trucks were prolly 7.75 inches.
The early 90's were KNDA ghea for skateboarding. It was hard for me to even find an 8 inch deck anywhere, wheels were an even bigger problem, I had an equal or even herder time finding big wheels, the biggest I could find were 47mm, but in the pic are and old pair of 55mm New Deal "Nude Eels" which I got for Xmas 1990, so they were prolly about 53-50mm by this time. I don't know for sure, I didn't have a micrometer. Still don't.

Bones Brigade Tunes...

So, maybe most of you who read this blog grew up in the 80's and watched skate videos by Powell-Peralta Bones Brigade videos like, The Bones Brigade Video Show, Future Primitive, and Animal Chin.

Well, then you might enjoy this CD of all your favorite hits from those movies to stoke your skate flame or just take you back to a simpler time when all you needed were soem friends and a parking block.

Just in case you were wondering waht tracks this consisted of we have Rad Boys, Johnny Rad, Los Pukes, and of course... The A & B Teams.
I bought this CD a few years ago and love it, I even learned to play a few of them particularly "Chin Ramp III" from Bones Brigade video #3 "The Search for Animal Chin" (1987)

Now, remember, I hadn't played guitar SRSLY since 2003, maybe like 10 times a year for like an hour each. I just started getting back into it playing, sataying at it for longer lengths of time and getting mai calluses back on mai fingertips, along with mai finger style and pick timing. I still have yet to get mai "Chuggas" back for extended periods of time for playing those GWAR, Slayer, and Gang Green songs.
I forgot how much forearm muscle that takes, as well as forgetting how heavy mai guitar was.

As of the end of this post I am Currently listening to "After The Rain" by Jaïa from the album "Blue Energy" released in 1998.
An Ambient track at the end of the album. The rest of the album is a classic Goa Trance CD, with the opening track also being an ambient/chillout track.
Like a chill sandwich.

Strawberry Butthole...

So, here is another song that I really like and decided to butcher, "Strawberry" by the Butthole Surfers.

I first heard this song on their limited edition "Double Live" Cassette which I bought at a local new/used record shop in town called Discs & Dats waaaay B in the D in 1990, my copy is #5849 of 7500.

I also bought the LP at The Turntable in Schaumburg, IL in 1991. My copy of the LP was an Import with the cover photo flipped so the girl is facing left instead of right, like on the Latino Bugger Veil version. I think mai release in on the label called Not 4 (but 5). This release was not labeled as a limited release.

Later, in 2004, I had come across a copy on the Latino Bugger Veil release on LP, so I snatched that one up also. The LP's were a limited run of 10,000. This copy is #5979 of 10,000.

This song was later released in 1993 on the album "Independent Worm Saloon" on Capitol Records.

I went and bought the CD on the dei it came out with mai friend John Notter, back then CD's came in a long cardboard box.

When we got back to mai house I put it in and cranked the stereo, I was zo pzyched to see that this song had been released, It was one of mai faves on the LP and Cassette.

I plugged in my guitar and started playing it, this freaked out John because he didn't know about the live version. He was all "waht the... how do you know that already?"

I had then told him about and showed him the Cassette Tape.

I haven't played this song on guitar for over 10 years, at least. This was recorded on the third time playing through it.

I had the pleasure of seeing both these bands play together in 1991.
